Elisabethzaal

New concert hall in Antwerp

Queen Mathilde opened the renovated Elisabeth Center on 26 November 2016, designed by Simpson Architects. Acoustic designer was Larry Kirkegaard.

The new concert hall is suited for classical music, pop concerts, congresses and theatre. The 2020 seat auditorium is home to the Philharmonie.

Charcoal Blue designed the stage machinery that includes 12 stage elevators, 2 mobile lighting bridges, 12 moveable sound reflectors and a choir wagon.

During the building of the hall, Theateradvies was quality manager of the stage equipment for building contractor Heijmans. Theateradvies supervised the work of all the suppliers of stage equipment on behalf of Heijmans and was liaison between Charcoal Blue and Heijmans. The work included the checking the shopdrawings, factory testing, and site visits to check the quality of the work.

The project was realized within planning and budget (87 Million euros) and the first reviews are most positive.
