“Continuing to see each other's points of view"

Becoming an actor seemed like the thing for him. But he soon abandoned that plan when, while studying Theater Studies, he discovered that the stage was by no means the only exciting place in the theater. As a theater technician and designer, he traveled halfway around the world and saw countless theaters inside and out. He now uses that knowledge as a project manager at Theateradvies.

Joost's approach:

"Always keeping sight of the goal while continuing to see each other's points of view. Listen and ask questions. That's how you come up with the best solutions in every project, whether it's creating a show or realizing a renovation."

Joost's background:

* Theater studies, UvA (MA) * Amsterdam University of the Arts (BA in Theater Technology) * Collective thinker, designer, technician and coordinator at Theatercollectief Schwalbe * Theater technician at Nederlands Danstheater, Het Filiaal, Carver, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, among others * Swimming, cycling, (punk rock) festivals and visiting theaters.

"I've walked around countless theaters and other stages at home and abroad as a theater technician. The stages themselves usually don't differ much from each other, but everything around them, that's what makes the difference: for the actors, for the technicians and for the audience."

"The theater world is on the move, new connections arise, the view is broadened. A lot of beautiful things can come out of that. Compare it to what has happened in libraries in recent years, how their social role has broadened. I find it fascinating as a consultant-project manager to be able to think along with our clients in the theater world about such developments."
